The Copper Brick Road

DAVIDsTEA Review

Since the declaration of the recession, a lot of people have decided to cut back. However, there are some people that I’ve noticed who refuse to give up their coffee and tea. I’m sure you know the Starbucks junkies. You make a kind suggestion to them to buy the Starbucks brand coffee at the store and brew it themselves just to have what they want while being cost efficient at the same time. Uh huh…yeah… it’s then time to duck and cover. You should’ve of course knew better….it’s just not the same. People are sensitive about the things they feel they absolutely need. Which is ok. I mean, we all have our guilty pleasures. Sadly, the same goes for me with green tea. I appreciate a good cup of green tea. But in my experiences I’ve found that you really can’t cheap out on it. When you go cheap, you don’t get the same flavor or quality…..until now. I was so excited to find out about DAVIDsTEA. They provide a great tea at an extremly affordable price!

DAVIDsTEA was started back in 2008 by David Segal. He started DAVIDsTEA as the solution to the same problem he was finding. The lack of great tea. I’m so glad he did! DAVIDsTEA has 6 stores which are localized around the Toronto and Vancover Canada area. However, us Americans can take advantage of the online store! It’s fab-u-lus that 99 different flavors are available anyone can afford.

As you all know I’m a stickler for the cheap. I was excited to find out that DAVIDsTEA’s are all available for about $0.30 – $0.32 a cup! That is soooo much cheaper than what I was finding at the cafe close to work!

The flavors are oh so yummy too! I mean, just listen to the names: Raspberry Nectar, and Sweet Dreams, Butterfly Jasmine, Dragon Pearls….the list just goes on and on! I was able to review Turkish Delight, Gunpowder Taffy, and Coco Chai Rooibos. Talk about good! At first glance, I loved the packaging the teas came in. Simple but effective zipper bags with DAVIDsTEA printed on them housed these loose tea leaves. I loved how the label with the tea’s flavor on it described the taste you were in for:

Coco Chai Rooibos:

A spicy adventure

If you’re into spice-based chais, this one is for you. It’s got a smooth base of caffeine-free, antioxidant-filled rooibos, and a satisfying kick of cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and piquant red peppercorns. Plus there’s a strong hint of coconut, for a slightly exotic twist. Try it straight up or infused in hot milk for a truly fabulous chai latte. It’s the kind of thing you get addicted to.

Turkish Delight

The Grand Bazaar

Call it Istanbul, Constantinople or Byzantium. Either way, the Queen of Cities has always been full of fabulous bazaars and people haggling over pistachios, almonds and spices. This tea uses all those ingredients to honour the metropolis that spans East and West, Asia and Europe. Plus it’s laced with delicious Turkish apple tea, the local sign of hospitality. Close your eyes and travel.

Gunpowder Taffy

It’s explosive

You’ll love how the smooth taste of caramel wraps itself around this gunpowder green. It’s so decadent, it’s almost dangerous. Plus we’ve added the fiery orange and yellow of apricot and marigold blossoms, to add to the adventure. Sweetly delicious, with a little edge of tartness. Perfect mid-morning when you need a boost. Or as an after-dinner tea – although it will eclipse any dessert served with it.

Creative huh? Oh and the smell that greets you when you open these bags….heavenly! The tea leaves are high quality and loose which makes for a better flavor.

If you’re an avid tea drinker, I would highly recommend you check out DAVIDsTEAs. If you’ve never tried green teas before, I would highly recommend you check out DAVIDsTEAs. Aside from the great health benefits, these flavored teas will make you glad you did
