Easy Homemade Chocolate Syrup

So last night I found myself without any chocolate syrup. I didn’t want to go out and buy any so I had to get creative. I started thinking about fudge, brownies and such and this is what I came up with:
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup hot water
2 cups sugar or Splenda
a pinch of salt
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Add the hot water to a saucepan and mix in the cocoa. While heating, go ahead and stir to dissolve the cocoa. Then add the sugar. Continue to stir until both the cocoa and sugar are dissolved. Boil for about 3-4 minutes over medium heat. At the end of that duration, remove from heat, add the salt and the vanilla, stir and then let it cool. Once it cools you can store it in the fridge. I used a clean mason jar.
This should keep for a good long while. It will make 2 cups or 1 mason jar. It is rich so use sparingly. 1 teaspoon should be enough for a glass of chocolate milk. Oh and believe me, it’s quite yummy! Enjoy!
