Mommy Wants Mother’s Day Flowers
I really do love to try and craft whenever I find the time to. I was recently offered the opportunity to create a Mother’s Day flower arrangement via Columbia, Land of Flowers. I received all of the supplies needed including the gorgeous Gerbera Daisies! I had a lot of fun creating it and it was super easy. I thought it came out well! I was given the following supplies:
- 20 fresh-cut Gerbera daisies
- Mug
- One brick of floral foam
- Rubber bands and ribbon
- Filling for the mug
- Step-by-step how-to Flower Topiary arrangement recipe
One by One I added the flowers and gripped them so they make kind of a circle
I then rubber banded them and rolled the rubber band to the top just so they would keep their shape and curve over. After the flowers were totally placed in the mug, I would then tie the ribbon around the rubber band.
I then pushed the flowers into the foam
I then covered the foam with the moss. After placing the moss, I then trimmed up some of the crazy edges of the moss.
Presto, my own Mother’s Day arrangement!
I was thrilled to have the arrangement right on the kitchen table for me to see. After a couple of days of refecting on my bouquet, I really started thinking about things. From being a mom and having a mom I know how easy it is for moms to be taken for granted. We do a lot thankless favors. However, being the great moms we are, we take satisfaction in things being done and the end result whether it be a clean house or a huge smile on our child’s face. We have a million and one jobs regardless if we work a 9-5 job or stay at home. After I reflected on this, I got…well I guess some would call it a cheesy sentiment on about how in some ways, flowers and moms are alike.
For the most part, as humans, we take flowers for granted. As long as the sun is shining and the birds are singing, we will always expect to see flowers. It doesn’t really matter if the flower is considered a “weed” or your “higher quality” flowers like gerbera daisies or tulips, you have a favorite that just makes your day. I’m sure you just saw the word “weed” and thought of the ugliest plant you could think of but I was really thinking those purple or blue tiny flowers that you see overwhelming open fields….when they blow in the wind. Living in the country, that’s a very nice, peaceful scene. Regardless if they’re on site or in a vase, they work just as hard to make the world a better place.
“Get to the point Rebecca. How are Moms and flowers alike?” you ask. “Flowers are just objects they feel no emotions”. Well I didn’t say 100% alike. Just think of everything you do on a daily or weekly basis. You listen when your child or someone else has a story to tell you. Flowers are always there and scientific studies have shown that they thrive on being spoken to. You comfort your child whenever they’re sad or scared. Flowers have a comfort to them and are always presented to show someone cares. You are your child’s beacon of hope. Flowers give hope. You congratulate and give praise whenever they do well. Flowers always come prepared to give that invisible pat on the back. You always have a way to make your child feel special. Flowers always make people feel special. And of course, we can’t forget that both moms and flowers help the boo boos.
I think flowers for Mother’s Day is an excellent gesture. Moms can appreciate flowers further than just their looks. I think as Moms, we have a subconscious understanding of the flower. We both work hard to help. That is why we appreciate them so much. We both tackle some pretty wonderful and difficult moments. If you think hard at most of your most memorial moments: child birth, birthdays, graduation, weddings, ect were there flowers there putting their best face forward for you? I mean, truly we both tackle the hard stuff and a lot of times we work together. But you know, at the end of the day both moms and flowers are still just as gorgeous and alive with their heads held high. No words are needed to say “I’m a mom, and I’m proud.”
I received the needed ingredients for for the sake of completing this review and project.
Receipt of these did not sway my opinion.
