We had originally been told that we weren’t going to be able to start until October due to some prep that had to go into getting the lot ready. I believe there were some fill ins and leveling that had to happen. So when we found out that they got done early with the grading part and that we were going to be able to get started sooner, we were stoked.
I have to tell you that right now, we’re in an apartment. *sigh* I’m going to tell you….our family was not made for apartment living. While we try to be as courteous as we can, we’re a family. There’s yelling at the kids, kids running through the apartment….I mean I wouldn’t be surprise if the folks below want to move out. Oh. I can’t forget the dogs. The poor dogs. I know they’re longing for that backyard too. So getting this show on the road was top priority.
The start date was scheduled for 9/21 but the PM told me that his subcontractors wouldn’t be able to get out until 9/22. This was helpful. Not the fact that we were going to have to wait a day, but the fact that the PM kept me in the loop. Generally speaking, I can handle things better when I know to expect them and can plan rather than not knowing and being kept in the dark. I have very much appreciated the open communication from our PM.
Our PM has been so much on that communication piece, that when the subs actually showed up on 9/21 instead of 9/22 he sent me an email with pictures saying “Great news! They’re digging the footings today!” It was such a great email to so early in the morning!
Stay tuned for my next update!
