The Copper Brick Road

Urban Naturals Giveaway

Here recently, Jennifer over at Urban Naturals gave me a chance to review some of their all natural products. I was able to try out a facial bar soap, a lotion bar, some lip gloss, and some bar soap that promised to help eczema. Oh my God, talk about some great products that really delivered! I couldn’t believe how great these products really were!

DS has some pretty bad eczema. I was all for the chance to review a product that would help it out. We have tried so many products that it’s not even funny. The eczema bar soap (called Jonathon’s Tangerine Creme Cookie) really did help DS’ skin to start to look better. It’s starting to lose the roughness. We’re really hoping the continued use will help it go away *crossing fingers*.

Like many of you, I am very cautious as to what I put on my face. I’m constantly in front of people at work, and I just don’t have the time for breakouts or allergic reactions. The facial bar soap from Urban Naturals was totally awesome. My face really felt clean! The soap did not dry out my skin or leave a film.

I thought the lotion bar was such a neat concept! It was a literal bar that you rubbed between your hands. The friction from your hands melted the lotion just enough to go on to your hands. It stays a solid. Before I could use it, my husband actually snatched it from me and took it to work with him. He thought it was a great idea because he could keep his hands from drying out without losing that masculinity. He said he was able to use it at work without catching flack from the guys. I’ll probably end up buying another one so I can have one in my purse.

Oh and I can’t forget about the lip balm. I am a snob when it comes to lip balm. That could be because I am a lip balm addict and I have like a million tubes all over the place. Needless to say, I’ve tried a lot of different brands. I have to say, this stuff was awesome. Never mind the fact I have a million tubes of other brands….this cherry vanilla tube was in my pocket at all times. I used this stuff over and over again! It had a very nice, smooth feel to it….not greasy and my lips feel great!

Frugally speaking, Urban Naturals‘ products are priced right as far as all natural products go. Using all natural products shouldn’t break the bank and Urban Naturals understands that. What’s so frugally great is the fact that bar soaps do last longer than liquid making these a greater choice! You should really check them out! Your skin will thank you! Also, make sure you keep checking back to their website. Their new liquid lotion will be debuting soon!

Oh yeah, Valentines Day is coming up! What could make a better gift than an all natural gift basket!

I would love to give the Oatmeal, Milk, and Honey bar. I know how your husband feels about eczema. UGH. I have it on my face, scalp, neck, chest, arms, legs, and well pretty much everywhere! My mom has it on her hands and both my kids have it too. Poor son has it bad like me, his knees feel like sandpaper.

  52. Jennifer says:
In response to Jane's comment and to reassure those entering the contest:

Our facial bar does both dry and moisturize, according to the reports we have received from our customers. The facial bar contains coconut and lemon oil which are drying for oily skin…and then we added organic aloe and cocoa butter to moisturize. This bar has been known to balance many skin types from dry, to oil, to combination skin.

Phototoxic essential oils are a serious concern when using products that remain on the skin such as lotion & balms. Citrus oil should never be used in such products. With that being said, using lemon essential oil in soap, which rinses off of the skin, is typically not a major concern and out of the hundred or so bars we've sold of it since it's inception, we've had not one complaint and nothing but rave reviews.

Thank you for catching the oversight that the healing balm should not be applied to broken skin. It was an oversight by my webmaster and will be corrected immediately. However, Comfrey's cell stimulation is also what causes healing to occur more quickly when applied to "boo boo's"

Concerning gram negative and gram positive bacteria: Tea Tree oil has been found to be effective against gram positive bacteria like Betahaemolytic streptococcus, Staphyloccus epidermidis, Propioni-bacterium acnes, Staphyloccus pyrogenes, Staphyloccus pneumoniae.

Studies done with tea tree on gram negative bacteria have been shown effective on bacteria like Klebsiella pneumoniac, Shigella sonnei, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli etc.

It is also effective against various strains of fungus.

Lavender oil is more effective against gram negative bacteria than gram positive according to scientific research.

So the combination of tea tree oil (being highly effective on gram positive) and lavender oil (being highly effective on gram negative)is a powerful combination.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to email me.
